Facebook Account Management
On a daily basis I work with NOAA science and policy staff to build social media posts aligned with communication goals and priorities.
Metrics
Every year, our Facebook page reaches 50,537 people. Up from the 13,866 people we reached in the first year I joined NOAA Fisheries. We have a very high engagement rate, on average, 6,365 people engage with our posts each month for a 14% average engagement rate.
Introduced Instagram Account to the Region
The new Instagram account directly supports NOAA's vision of creating an informed society by communicating our science and policy decisions, and supports NOAA's cross-cutting priority of enhancing environmental literacy. I worked to establish the first NOAA Fisheries Regional account. In addition to driving web traffic to the West Coast Region and science center’s websites and NOAA Fisheries-related resources, the account can help build relationships and partnerships in the communities we serve and contribute a regional perspective that connects NOAA Fisheries’ work to people’s everyday lives.
I built the proposal for approval by NOAA and the Department of Commerce and developed the Operating and Launch Plan.
Metrics
By Month #2 of the Instagram account we had gained over 700 followers and reached over 9,000 people with our content.
